Ashanti stopped by Access Hollywood earlier today to discuss the new direction her career is taking.

 She said:The label I was with kinda fell under an indictment and that put a hold on everything.It was like a black cloud that i had to come out of and we had to do a lot of damage control.I felt that I wanted to distance myself from that.I just had to regroup and say we're gonna have a fresh start and i'm gonna try to put my business hat on and try to look for a different angle to approach the music.The industry was changing dramatically in those past three years.

She's working on her fifth album due this summer and her single ''The Woman You Love'' featuring Busta Rhymes is climbing the charts.

Raven Symone Heads To Sister Act On Broadway

Actress Raven Symone landed a new gig and it's on Broadway.

Raven's bringing her animated personality and her voice to the stage again.The 26 year old was cast as the leading role in Broadway's musical Sister Act which opened last April.She's taking over as the new Deloris Van Cartier.Raven starts rehearsals in February and takes the stage at the end of March at Broadway Theater.

Legendary Singer Etta James Dies At 73

After fighting long battles with Leukemia,Dementia and Hepatitis C 73 year old legendary soul/blues/jazz singer Etta James died today.While her husband and sons by her side the legendary singer passed away at a Riverside California hospital.LA native Mrs.James had been undergoing treatment for leukemia since early 2011.Mrs.James's 74th birthday would have been next Wednesday.

This is a tremendous loss for the family,her friends and fans around the world her manager Lupe De Leon said.She was a true original who could sing it all her music defied category.I worked with Etta for over 30 years.She was my friend and I will miss her always.

The legendary spitfire born Jamesetta Hawkins with such an iconic voice had six Grammys under her belt and seventeen Blues Music Awards.She was inducted into the Rock&Roll Hall of Fame in 1993,the Blues Hall of Fame in 2001 and the Grammy Hall of Fame in both 1999 and 2008.Mrs.James's life was portrayed in the 2008 Cadillac Records musical biopic which was based on the rise and fall of James's label of 18 years Chess Records.

That voice,fieriness and her beauty will indeed be missed.
